Minimum Requirements:If the applicant is a mortgage professional, they must have two years of verifiable full-time business experience as either a mortgage originator or loan officer. If applicant is a mortgage broker, only one year of verifiable full-time business experience is required.
If the applicant is a licensed insurance agent, registered representative, investment adviser, adviser representative, accountant, or real estate agent, they must document two years full-time business experience and document passage of a general or introductory mortgage finance course (documented knowledge or training in mortgage origination can substitute for documented passage of a general or introductory mortgage finance course).
An undergraduate or graduate degree within the last five years qualifies as one year of business experience.
2. Financial Services Certification
Certification: Applicantmust hold at least one current certification from the list below.
·Mortgage Broker’s License or two years documented experience as a mortgage originator/loan officer or mortgage underwriter.
·NASD or insurance License with two year business experience.
·Real Estate License
·Bachelor's or Master's Degree with a major in Personal Financial Planning
·Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®)
·Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
·Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
·Registered Financial Consultant (RFC)
3. Educational Requirement
Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma
4. Course Requirement
You must complete the required MIFSP coursework by attending the workshop or by taking the required self-study course. And you must pass the comprehensive examination with a minimum score of 75.
5. Ethics Statement
You must agree to abide by the MIFSP Professional Code of Conduct. 6. Application
You must complete and submit the application along with the applicable $75 fee prior to course or workshop registration. No application will be processed prior to receipt of the applicable fee. All information provided on the application must be documented or otherwise verifiable. You are required to meet the conferment requirements in place at the time your application was submitted.
