The MIFSP's mission is: To develop, strengthen and expand the intellectual capital of financial services professionals and to raise the standards for those persons who interact with the public in the area of home financing.
MIFSP reviewed the competencies for training and education recommended nationally for adoption by the various state legislators as part of an initiative to better serve the public interest in regards to all mortgage originators. We also reviewed the material provided by entities serving the financial planning community. The goal of the review was to develop advanced mortgage planning courses that matched the tasks and level of learning identified by subject matter experts as being essential, and couple them with the most advanced and appropriate approaches to curriculum design for the target market MIFSP believes to be best suited and situated to further their service to the consuming public.
Furthermore, the MIFSP, like those who proposed the national initiative believes that the public is better served and protected through increased education and training of all residential mortgage originators, financial planners, real estate agents, investment or financial advisors and all those who come in contact with the consuming public. The MIFSP also believes that through training and education we can further protect the consuming public against predatory lending practices and other anti-consumer practices and empower them to make more informed decisions while improving the overall competency of the financial services industry in every state of this union.
The MIFSP's educational programs were created with due regard to the suggested national competencies and standards for mortgage originators in addition to the relevant standards and requirements by NASAA and the NASD for Registered Investment Advisors and then going one step further by integrating MIFSP's own brand of financial planning. No endorsement is expressed or implied by any organization.
The MIFSP promotes the business standards of the Institute, the International Association of Residential Mortgage Planners and the National Association of Independent Mortgage Service Providers.
The MIFSP seeks to fulfill its mission not by being political or by supporting what could be over regulation, but by developing and educating the already licensed or otherwise employed financial services professional, thereby enabling them to expand their existing practice and to enhance the products and services they offer the consuming public.
