Leon L. Morris, RMP, CLU, ACS, ChFC, ALMI, CME, FFSI

 

 

Leon Morris is the Executive Director and Principal Instructor of the Mortgage Institute for Financial Services Professionals (MIFSP), which he co-founded in September 2003. 

 

Prior to his current position, in June 1997 Leon co-founded Morris Capital Management, Inc. (MCM).  Leon served as the President, CEO, and Principal Representative for MCM.  MCM operated as a State Registered Investment Advisor (CRD #127203), a Georgia Residential Mortgage Licensee (license #14156), and a Florida Licensed Mortgage Brokerage Business (license #MBB 0505497). 

 

Leon started his financial services career in 1983 as an insurance agent in Florida. While in college, Leon was a nationally ranked Top-Ten College Agent with the Northwestern Mutual for 1984-85. He began his full-time career in the financial services industry by becoming a Special Agent with the Northwestern Mutual and a Registered Representative with NML Equity Services, Inc.  Leon went on to become a leading Sales Manager for a major life insurer and later became a personally producing general agent and registered representative. 

 

In 1991, Leon became a Senior Associate (Technical Specialist & Product Manager) for the Life Office Management Association (LOMA). There he was directly responsible for product development in LOMA’s Management Resources Division, with a focus on equity products, annuities, broker-dealer operations and pensions.

 

During Leon’s last years in personal production, he was a top producer total sales all lines for 1999 and 2000 for Fortis/Woodbury Financial Services (The Hartford).

Leon received his undergraduate degree with an interdisciplinary double major in economics and government from Florida State University. He received designations as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from The American College in 1991 and 1993, respectively.  Leon received the Residential Mortgage Planner (RMP) and Certified Mortgage Evaluator (CME) designations in 2003.  In January 2005, Leon became one of the first in the world to complete LOMA's ten-part program and earn the designation Fellow, Financial Services Institute (FFSI).

 

Leon is the author of numerous articles and the author of the books Managing Your Mortgage to Financial Independence and the current course book used by MIFSP, ABCs of Mortgage Based Financial Planning and An Introduction to MO Brand Financial Services. 

 

Leon was born in England and currently resides in the metro Atlanta area with his wife of twenty four years and their two children.
